shader testing.
wow, the metallic look is very believable!!!
COOL
Very convincing result Franck!
[tease] but what are those shadows? and what was the rendertime? ;D [/tease]

grrrrrr !!!
the black shadows... even after a lot of testing (a looooot of) I've been unable to get rid of them... wether they are the result of "displacement bug", or from 2 suns that "add" the shadows to themselves.
as for the render time... because of my stupid attitude (hey what if i try to put some crazy value and checked ray traced reflection...), the render took more than 100 hours...
but with "usual" values, i think it would have taken no more than 15 to 20 hours...
Great job, Seth. Peachy!
I bet your extreme displacements contribute to that shadow effect.
This looks very interesting. It doesn't seem to be metallic to me, more like ice. It has some kind of SSS. Is this a water shader?
no it's reflective shader.
the blue colour on the left comes from a blue sun.
Looks good!

@Seth - So do we get some sort of tutorial or is this a "pay as you go" venture?

I think what is been asked for is weather you plan to release a free tutorial or weather you plan to make a tutorial as a commercial basis via NWDA ;D
Regards to you.

oh !
I don't know... I mean... a tutorial for what ? my attempt to do metallic looking shader ?
why not... ? if i managed to do something better looking, I'll explain how i did it :)
You could show us what you did here and I'd be happy with it. But, I can wait...
;D
Thanks.
Quotea tutorial for what ?
Haha.
What you don't think everyone has always wanted to know how to make robot feces in blood?
Well to tell the truth I don't know the scale, but to me it looks like a Trex copralite from the late triassic.
