Thought I'd let you guys know I just officially opened my render farm JA Rendering. Check it out at http://www.jarendering.com. If anyone's bummed about missing out on the free offer. Not to worry every new account is given a credit of $30, which is equal to about 24 hours of render time. So you can still give it a try without any obligation.
About: JA Rendering is a small render farm specializing in Terragen 2 rendering. Featuring automatic splitting and reassembly of frames for fast render times, an all quad-core network, free support, and complete control over the entire render process.
Just wanted to start by saying thanks to everyone who tested me system. Couldn't have gotten this online without you.

The testing for my render farm is almost done and I'll be going live with the system soon. But there still a little bit of time to get in on the free rendering. The system has undergone quite a few changes since testing began. The biggest of which is its ability to now automatically split up renders across multiple machines and put them back together seamless. This should be a big help for you guys trying to render large images. So anyone wanting to give it a try just head on over to http://www.jarendering.com and follow the register link.

Hey all. I've been working on a web interface for my render farm and just implemented Terragen support. Looking for some people that might want to try it out. So if you like to break things, visit http://www.jarendering.com and follow the register link. Oh and FREE rendering while in testing.
Jeff
Question,
Dose you farm support single image rendering as well as animation? ;D
Regards to you.
Cyber-Angel
Yup i can do some "still" testing could you tell us the prices for rendering etc?
The farm does support animation...but I'm only allowing still frame at the moment. Later in testing I will allow frame ranges.
As for prices I'm still debating final prices. But it will be in the ballpark of $.12 Ghz/h hour.
Hi,
That sound's like a good rate, I was just interested in weather you provided still image support which you do, as many farms don't so that's good to know for future reference. ;D
Also do you have to be a company to use your service, what about the two other sides of the rendering spectrum, that is freelancers and individual artists? There are a lot of people who are in those categories.
Regards to you.
Cyber-Angel
Really? Any idea why some don't do still image? It's easier to do still image than animation. So I don't know why they wouldn't allow it.
That was some time ago, they may now, or their no longer operating I am no expert why they do what they do my guess is it had some thing to do with their chosen business operating model where animation had more commercial benefit in terms of per GHz /Hour then stills; this seems odd to me in relative operational/ cost terms as surely for every one animation another hundred still images get made.
I think that they where primarily geared toward the professional sector namely in the architectural visualization and high end animation spaces; as alternatives to having a farm in house and not toward the freelance, Semi-Pro and high end hobbyist user space which maybe they thought was not a high enough revenue stream which seems strange given the number of CG communities out there such as Renderosity and CG Talk among others, that are populated be such users.
Those are just personal feelings on the matter, and may be proven wrong by better men then I.
Regards to you.

I keep getting job launch fail?
Checking
job now starts but i get this
(http://i44.tinypic.com/so8luc.jpg)
Im rendering as an exr this might be the problem?
oh and can i turn my pc off when my project is rendering?
Okay, I'm thinking the job launch problem as to do with spaces in your scene name...apparently my code doesn't properly handle those. I'll see if I can get those working, in the meantime don't include spaces in your filenames. The unknown errors during render are missing textures from your scene, you didn't include them with your zip. Namely your missing an untitled-1.jpg. I'll get the error reports to include these messages.
and no you don't need to have your machine on. All rendering is done on my side.
the thing though i have no space in that scene file and their is no imported textures?
scratch that i did have a texture i didnt know about editing it now
No its working no just did a render with a default scene worked fine ;D
It now reports missing files properly. The spaces and dashes in the file name is going to take a bit more work. I'll look at it again tomorrow.
Found out the issue with spaces. Wasn't actually my code, rather there are some functions that do not accept spaces due to security issues. There's nothing I can do about it. So rather I just don't let you upload a zip file containing a space.
OP Updated.
Excellent :)

Great news! :)

Open!!! OP updated.
Congrats! The free credit for those of us who want to give it a test drive is a really good idea.
Email sent for registration. This is a cool service. On the website though it says that the current cost is free. So if we upload stuff do we not have to pay for it? Obviously once the prices come in we will.
Had the nagging feeling I had overlooked something. :) I'll update those pages shortly. Since my site still said free I'll honor that. I'll reset the account balances so any rendering that has been done won't count against you.
Jeff
DAMN! Hadn't submitted it yet ;D
@Lehm how can somebody know that his rendering is finished & how could we download the finished work ?
You'll recieve an e-mail once your job has completed. The download link will be on the 'jobs' page in the task list.

I'm thinking bench mark! Are we going to see some numbers at some point?

Interesting, that might actually come in handy. It'd be a good way to let users know how long they can expect a render to take by comparing the benchmark time on their machine against mine which I could post on the site. Hmmm I'll put that on my list of things to do. I think I'll wait until the second half of my farm is online...see I'm planing on doubling the number of machines on my farm in the near future. The timing of that is actually up to you guys. I don't have complete say over the farm. I have to prove that this is a worth while endeavor before getting the go ahead to add the rest.
There is a bench mark render on this site that Oshyan provided so we could compare setups/etc. There is also a site where those results have bee posted. I am late for work, otherwise I would have that link - ;D

I ve made a render at JA Rendering and took approx. 8h to 11h (640x480 detail 0.85 AA 5) in my computer it took 10 h to render just the quater with low detail and low res...if we make a calculation 10x4=30h ...

Yes, sorry, I did understand which benchmark you were referring to, it's stickied. :) To make it easier I was thinking of putting a calculator to tell the approx time.
Hi Lehm
Is your RenderFarm still up and running? i went to the website but couldn't find it!
