Title: distorted heightmaps?
Post by: ITAmember on May 24, 2009, 10:13:13 PM
When I try to render this heightmap

with the default settings I get this

It's has those very spiky towers and is very out of proportion. I can't seem to figure out how to scale it to a certain size in KM. Any help? I've tried looking this up with google but I can't seem to find anything. Thanks.

well I'm sure theres a better way I just can't think of it right now, but you could add operator -> adjust vertical, then change the "multiply height by" to a decimal value (try 0.05, seemed to help a lot testing it on my end).

Depending on the heightmap format you're using, it may not have embedded scale data. That looks like the case here. Using a Heightfield Adjust Vertical is the right way in TG2. If you know the actual altitude range it should be, you can set it this way. Otherwise you can just adjust it until it "looks right".

Thanks, a combination of adjust vertical and resize did the job. :)
