For lack of inspiration, I tortured a crater shader!
If only there was some kind of city or fortress up there.
You say you lack imagination. I disagree. This image shows imagination. The moon is great. The shading of the pinnacle shows a good start. There is a photographer in my area who only takes pictures of concrete sidewalks. He walks everywhere looking for the right photo. That is not imagination, just perseverance.
Not everything turns out the way you may expect or want. Real landscapes are filled with errors and sometimes are just ugly. I try to make the best of my disasters with Terragen 2. Sometimes just changing the lights or sky works. Other times I'll throw the mess into my paint program and make an abstract of it.
Keep trying. The more you have learned, the more your imagination can flow. If it gets frustrating, come back tomorrow and try again. I also do this.
Oops, responded to the wrong thread. I was referring to another thread you posted. (Lack of sleep, sorry.)
I think that's a great render, pretty much surrealistic.
nice displacement and good planet too :)
i like what you do with craters (remember the "heart" thing you did ?)
You should torture some more; I love it. Wouldn't like to live in Zylot's city atop it, nor stand underneath it. Best viewed from a safe distance, me thinks.

agree with Seth and John...very nice!
This one is special. Some kind of minimalistic masterpiece ;D I really enjoy watching this
Like a giant planet Golf Tee, Nice one!!!
Wow. This is one of your best for quality details and crisp lighting. I like the setup and point of view.
Fantastic, Joel!
I just know there's a cheeky roadrunner and a very wily coyote running around up there!
Very cool. Everything is good.

These are *all* very imaginative! Great lighting, concept and contrast of colours!
These are very interesting. Care to share how they are done?
They are really great! And every single one of them would deserve to be posted in full size here :)
I remember them well: the Henry Moore of this forum no less.
John
