Title: Aggero *WIP*
Post by: Jack on June 14, 2009, 01:25:42 AM
I usually post finals on this forum but im working on this scene and I wouldnt mind to here some of your thoughts im not going for realism here by the way.
so here is the first image at relatively low settings detail 1 aa 6 gi 2,2,8 took 58 minutes to render probably due to its small size I usually render at 1500-1800 resolution

I like the two outcrops in the foreground. When I pulled the horizontal scroll over to the right, the small section of exposed sky to the left of that third background outcrop became hidden so that the outcrop appeared to be a solid piece of land, and for me that worked better than seeing it as another outcrop. I'm currently working on something similar using negatively displaced craters.

Nice rocky structures - I really have to start playing with displacements more :)

I like the cut-away at the bottom of the central pillar. Was this a happy-accident or intentional? ;)

Nice render, very cool.

It's going to be a nice (final) render eventually, I'm sure, but I think the POV doesn't work very well. Somehow there is very little depth in this image probably because of it.
I also like that funny outcrop on the left thing :)
So practically I would elevate the camera some, or move it behind that ground swell in the foreground. I don't know, I think you'll have to experiment a little, if you are still open to changing the POV.

Cheers
