Post by: Denis on June 23, 2009, 11:56:30 AM
Hello :)

Here is my first try to make a Pic with some trees.

I think i have a lot of work to make the "rocks/mountians" looks more realistic. :)

A little grainy overall, but pretty nice distribution.  How did you create the cliff walls?

Fake stone and texture.

The Cliff on the left-front side is impressive. The Structure and the Texture are mixing very well.
But you should probably try to use something else then the texture for the bigger mountains in the background where you can see the tiles of the Texture.
Try to create something like this Texture with a voronoi function and some color adjust shaders.
If you have trouble with using this, just ask. ;)

I don't see it being noisy, at least not in the atmosphere. What could be called noisy is the carnopy. The trouble here is that you need to use much higher AA values, maybe even blur noise away in post.

I agree with the others that the scene is generally nice and well done.

Cheers,
Frank

thanks @all.

@Goms

The background mountians are under construction. :) Im already work on it

@Frank

AA is 8x in this render. I think i reset the position of the sun.
Atmoquality is 64samples.

What is Carnopy in german ?? Google translator dont know it :)

a typo, I meant canopy. Which means Beschirmung, Dach, Himmel, in diesem Zusammenhang ist die belaubte Oberfläche des Waldes gemeint :)

hi,

here is an update
http://denisfreihals.de/Bilder/Terragen2/Berge1.jpg

I do a lot of changes. The front "cliff" left and right was better in the first one. The background mountain need more detail and the clouds are to low. I think i have to resize the "fakestone" smaller. Its look unreal.

I have change the AA to 10 the sun position more in the background. The pic is no longer "grainy.

I hope you understand what i mean, its really late i have to sleep :P

I have trouble using fake stones, so let me say this is good. My only problem with it is that the foreground, right now looks like a wall. Please save this! It will come in handy.
I think adding a couple of fake stones with different scales would break up this wall effect.

I like those structures a lot - but I have a problem with scale in this scene. As mentioned before, the wall in the foreground on the first sight looks like a 1 meter wall - then I start to notice that it is a hill/cliff with trees on top.
