This image is primarily a test of Tangled_Universe's new 'Sand shader' file. Although the settings were not used here, by working with the power fractal, one may make adjustments to achieve redirection of the ripple effect. This first image does not have displacement in the base layer giving the elevated terrain a flat appearance; whereas, the second image (appearing on the next post) has the displacement set; but, the result of which, minimizes the sand coverage greatly. My plans are to start another test image which hopefully will display a much larger area of sand and its rippling effects.
Exciting stuff here; I am looking forward to producing more images using this file - there are a lot of possibilities.

With the addition to adding displacement to the base color, the end effect was that it limited the coverage of the sand shader.

Bob, these are looking wonderful, and your insight is inspiring, I may have to go and get this(and other files)...cheers

I think choronr has been granted pre-release access, inkydigit. You may have to wait :(

Hi Jason,
At this point, I think the file is still being tested; and, it will be up to Tangled_Universe and FrankB as to when it will be available for purchase. The file is great to work with; and, there are a lot of possibilities with it.

This looking very cool....
Bob, great use of my sand-shader. I'm glad you're willing to test it for me so you can point out difficulties for me which I normally wouldn't mention.
I've never seen a render of you, shot from above and looking down, without any sky. Perhaps a nice idea to render your deserts from 20m height or something?
If you break up the ripple-shader you'll get very cool result!

You are welcome and glad you liked the scene. The first image shows the sand detail very well. Any other testing you need, just let me know.
Thanks for the idea Martin. The project and POV I'm working on should allow me to adjust the camera and give this looking down perspective a try.
The sand is obviously great and nice distributions with the bushes etc.
Your work is always good but I think you could find better POVs. Maybe try to get some more drama in the compositions.
The sand looks great ans so does your vegitation. Overall a well executed scene.
