Title: Mountain Remnant
Post by: RArcher on July 22, 2009, 11:03:15 AM
It has been a very unproductive Terragen summer for me so far this year.  So after three weeks of vacation and then a few weeks break from Terragen I am finally back to creating something new!  This one is still on the rough side so far and I'm not entirely sure about the direction I want to take it, but I'll throw it out there for any suggestions or comments.

Rendered at 0.65 detail, 10AA, 1/3 GI

Vegetation includes Walli's pine trees, bushes, and grass.  Klas's grass and birch tree.

I would interpret the red in the water as reading as heavy sedimentation of perhaps silting form a clay based river bank type environment, clay with say a heavy iron makeup, this then would make the water the red color shown; this can be seen in rivers of this type in real life. Great image.

;D

Regards to you.

Lovely :)
Water is great, how about some redish strata to provide a source for the tinge in the water and some variation in the shrub distribution ...

Thanks guys.  You are right Richard, the bushes need some better spacing for sure.  The reddish water can also be from algae and bacteria in the water, though really it is just because I like the contrast between the red and the greens.

I am also curious where this will end up.

I don't buy the big rock with the rounded, curved sides, though, and I think there should also be vegetation on the steeper slopes. Overall I think you still have to find the right "mood" for the scene. However the scenery gives you a lot to play with.
You could also try Martin's Rock Surface on the walls, with different colors, though, not the stock red rock.
There could also be plants in the water.

Cheers,
Frank

Wow really like this, although I do think there's been a massive Coca Cola spill in the foreground.

Just google for 'Rio Tinto Huelva' and you will get images which will make those red waters look tame  ;D

Bye!!!

Cool work. I'm about to finally post about my rock thing I was doing a while back but never sorted out properly.

I see a lot of stuff with great outcrops and towers etc. This graph I have should enable this kind of thing to be done planetary wide and still have nice blends between outcrops and low ground.

Slowly!  It has come along a little bit since the first render, but I've been distracted the last few days with something to do with Mesa's  ;)
