Title: Sun showing through (in front of) mountains question.
Post by: D.A. Bentley (SuddenPlanet) on August 05, 2009, 06:46:56 PM
I rendered an image with the sun very low behind some mountains, but I see the glow of the sun in front of the mountains.  Is this a bug, or do I need to change some setting to get it to render properly?  See attached image.  THanks.

known bug with a possible workaround.

go to the atmosphere area, click on the atmosphere node. on the quality tab, click enable ray traced shadows.

the render will take a bit longer to do, but it wont show through the ground.

basically in some of the shortcuts they take in the normal rendering it doesn't quite always render the sunlight correctly through land.  Forcing it to raytrace (and thus taking more precise and accurate calculations) fixes it.
