Just playing around with a few things. The snow is Martin's NWDA Snow Pack. Trees, bushes and grasses are from Walli.
Rendered at:
Detal: 1
AA: 10
GI: 1/4
1600 x 1000
A little over 10 hours render time.
Thanks for taking a look!
*Update on Page 2*
Nice, quiet scene. A lot of winter pictures coming out at the moment, is it already this late in the year? ;)
I wonder what the background would look like with a bit of DOF applied...
Wow wow wow...the atmosphere is simply outstanding! Very natural scene.
I like the way you distributed the trees. Perhaps a bit low dense here and there, but the breakup looks really nice and aids in depth-perception.
I'm not sure if the dry-bushes would really fit in a scene like this, but heck...they look nice :)
The foreground surface and shore could use some work I think. Perhaps a rockbed or other details could help.
Cheers,
Martin
Hi
Oh yeah!
I agree with Tangled-Universe.
ciao
Naoo
I like your mist setting which gives a good sense of depth to your terrain.
John
beautiful
Mick
Absolutely beautiful!
It's like the old prints from a photo magazine. Really beautiful.
very good atmo !
I love the water too
Very nice great job , thought it was a photo at first :o :o :o
Thanks for the comments everyone. I think Martin nailed the few things I don't like about it, but they are fixable. The background trees do need more density, I was being stingy to cut down populating time. The foreground bank needs more work as well. My favorite parts are the sky the water and the mountains, I just need to make the rest match.
Good atmo ! I like the foreground !
Absolutely amazing image! I love the contrast between sky and foreground. It has a very tranquil mood, great for a very large render to hang in the bathroom to stare at from under the shower. How did you get the whiteness in the sky, just high atmo?
I miss the summer already :( There is a chill in the air.
I really like the contrast between the softness of the sky and the quite stark foreground, love the snow too, if I cant figure out how its done I just might have to buy Martins snow pack ;)
Richard
sky is top notch, Ryan! The rest is also great, but the sky is simply awesome!
Cheers,
Frank
successful water!
Very nice.
Wow.... and I like the colour variation the dry bushes give. The atmo is top notch, you can almost see that big cloud rolling in.
Cheers, Simon.
An Update! Brightened things up just a little bit, re-did the foreground, increased the density in the back trees somewhat, re-did the background hills surfacing, and most important left the water and clouds alone! This one is likely finished now as another rough but promising scene is coming along.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions and encouragement.
Dune: The bright sky is a combination of increasing camera exposure, positioning the sun just out of camera shot on the left, and an increased haze density.
Dang! I didn't think there was much to imporve on from your first image, yet somehow you managed it!
This is really beautiful. I'm looking forward to winter, but I'd settle for a day here.
I love this one Ryan! Very beautiful work, thanks :)
Hi
Again WOW!
Realy nice update.
Only the trees are a bit bit to -- sharp/hard (sorry I don't know better english words).
ciao
Naoo
excellent work!
I think that's some good tweaking you did here, even the small things that a very sharp eye could spot in the first render are now perfect! :)
Fantastic, congratulations! I really like the subtle contrasts. There's one thing though; there seems to be some repetitiveness (looks like cloning) in some grassy areas. Is there a reason why this could have happened? It's minor, you have to look closely to see it, but it's there.
You've got one hell of a sharp eye Dune. There were a couple hard edges on the closest grass populations that I softened a little with the clone brush. There may be one final update coming after I finish the next render I'm working on just to give a little more variation in the grass, but not much else would change, if I even bother.
Thanks for the comments everyone.
I love version 2 :)
Great render, Ryan, again :-)
Another candidate for your NWDA gallery.
Cheers,
Frank
The sky is astonishing!
Beautiful render at all, but the sky is breathtaking!
The anvil shape in the clouds resembles a dying storm in the horizon.
Very well done, congrats! ;D
