Title: My First Terragen 2 Scene!
Post by: GRAYgoose on August 12, 2009, 02:18:28 PM
Full size is 1920 x 1200, I used 11x AA and 2 for quality, I know it's a little high but I was going to sleep and so I had time to render. I dont really know how to use plants or trees, like how to place them so they conform to the surface slant and all. I didn't put clouds in this one, and I'm rendering another with them, I'll post that one here when its done.

Good start, check out http://www.planetside.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Terragen_2_Tutorials for some good tutorials. The video tutorials I made go over some of the concepts of adding objects and populations into a scene.

I learned from your tutorials! I watched the objects tutorial, but your mic makes you somewhat hard to understand with all that bass. I'll check it out again, good tutorials though!

How do I get water like this: http://www.planetside.co.uk/gallery/f/tg2/glacier_vallery_saurav_subedi.jpg.html mines not as shiny or deformed, I tried that displacement bar, but it didn't seem to do a thing!

Smaller with clouds:

This is really good for a first scene! It's obvious you put those tutorials to good use.

It is really a good render. Looks like RArcher or FrankB may have some real competition in a few months. Looking forward to see more!

Water... I make the scale smaller and add more depth. It's not the answer, but the reflections look better. On the lighting tab, switch to ambient occlusion. The default settings help alot. Things 'look' better' than with Global Illumination.

For a first image it is successful! Would be patient the images which you see and which you admire, you will be able to carry them out one day or other Terragen2 requires patience and to go back without stop in question. With each time you make an image you will find something again. Seek, modifies, adds shaders they are unbounded! Good your next image is awaited!
PS: work already on the distribution of surfaces (colors etc)

I agree with njeneb...the water scale seems off?
smaller waves would add to the sense of scale...with some of walli's pine trees etcv...this will become excellent!
keep at it!!

It's fine, I put my headphones on, and since they don't have a sub, it's alot easier! Yeah, the scale was 8000...

Put your camera much closer to the water's surface.   I doubt that there is very much difference ber=tween the water settings tha you are using and the example you are aiming for.  The big difference is the view point.

Excellent first scene by the way.
