Title: Testing clouds animation
Post by: Seth on August 13, 2009, 05:17:35 PM
Hey guys !
I am a bit away from the forum right now and not as productive as i was but i must say that i am trying to learn the animation part of TG2 right now so...
here is the first test i did with clouds (my BFA to be honest).
sorry for the low quality of the video, as i said , it is only a test.
still, you'll see some problem with ligting and some parts of some frames seem to not be rendered... but... well i thought i might post it to have some feedbacks and i hope it is good enough to be post.

btw, i'll send updates of the pack for those who purchased it as soon as the tweaking will be finished. Something for low altitude sun...

thanks for your comments guys :)

It looks pretty convincing at first, as the clouds move across the landscape, but when the cloud cover begins to decrease, it looks as if the direction of motion of the clouds has suddenly reversed. I'm not saying that a time-lapse film of clouds wouldn't look like this, only that the sudden shift in direction seems a bit weird.

That seems to work pretty well. I particularly like the noise shift in the last few frames.

I really liked the glow effect in the last seconds of the anim. This is your first try? I wish my attempts were so successful!  :(

Cool Franck!  No easy task, I'd guess.  Someday, I'll be alongside giving it a shot once again.  Nice to see your work.

This is really impressive, I especially like the film grain effect :)

You mean the low atmosphere samples :P

No kidding, like I said Franck this is already a very nice animation and it is just one of your first!

C'est bon c'est sûr la qualité manque mais si tu corriges le tout c'est convaincant !

is it possible to know what are the values where you put your keys on ?

did you animate the cloud fractal contrast, or  something else ?

i m very curious to see how you deal with the wind, how did you offset the clouds ?

just looking the video again.....
you did a real nice job in motion timing.

it doesnt look to be easy to "synchronize" the small detail evolution with big clouds structures animation.

How many tests to get the right timing ?

thanks, I did some testing before this but... well that was only my first test with clouds.
I put my keys on the warping (in the warp tag in the powerfractal connected to the cloud) and on the coverage...
that's all...
