i have more stuff planned for this one....;)
next I'm planning to add some structures to the surface, circling around the mountain sized tortured hand plant.

Which of both is the moon? ,-)
I like the large displacement on the top one.
the bottom one is meant to be a planet, while the one on top is a moon that has been pulled off its orbit. ;)
I like the story :) I miss the red spots of this tortured hand quite a bit I must say ;)
Don't worry MacGyver, I'll change the color back to red, I was just trying a different color for the leaves.
Ah ok ;) I was thinking about how to give this image a little extra touch... hm, haven't come to a conclusion so far. I could imagine some rays some how or perhaps a sun peeking just over the horizon. Just thinking loud ;D
I did another render from a different POV, but I currently dont' have it available online yet, but I'll put it online soon......
from a different POV:

Hi
Very cool 8)
I love it from bottem to middle!
For me the rest is to much.
ciao
Naoo
Very dramatic POV indeed :) Imho you could make the tortured hand even bigger for this picture as everything else is so huge. Or instead as Naoo said, leave the first half of the picture and get rid of the bottom. Also, the cloud layer at the bottom seems either too "flat" or out of place to me. At a third look at the image I notice what I like about the upper half: there's not as much "fog/haze" in the upper atmosphere, which makes the colors look more saturated. Do you have a very thick atmo at the bottom?
I like that you boldly go where no tortured plant has gone before :P
Reminds of of the seventies space art. Kirk says, "He did a little too much LDS."
I always liked the space art from then. ;D

I did't really do much testing on that render, like i usually do, I did'nt realise the clouds were so low, or else I would have disabled them
also, this .tgd has two atmosphere nodes, not sure about the setting of them now, cause I'm not at home.
I'll try to be back with a new render soon, I'm currently working on a object for scene, so sit tight.....
close up version, not yet final.
did some post-work in this render, I added a lens flare for the sun

Stark. Almost Dali. Keep going!
oh i will, i just need to reduce the urge to play PC games. ;)
the main focus on that one was the tortured hand model, and the sun.
Oblivion? I've been going there also.

nope, I'm done with Oblivion for the moment, now I'm playing the PC version GTA San Andreas.
here is a render from the other day of a structure I'm making to go along with the tortured hand tgo

I'm also making a different luminosity mask, one thats not nearly as dense as the current one.
It looks like the new HARP facility. Let's light up the Aurora artificially!
Very cool. It would look sharp in a T2 render.
Nice... I can see where this is going, it's going to have candles on the platforms and the lights will be off ::)... Alright maybe not, but I'd like to see where this is going.
Cheers, Simon.

hahahaha, :D :D :D you think you know Darkboy & his renders huh?
nope, dont have any plans for adding candles
I started a render of the MIE with the structure late last night, it should be done by sometime today. (I hope) :)
it took a bit longer than I expected.... about 30 hours :)

It looks great. I wounder if a different object besides the tree would work also. Something tech...

i'm thinking i might render it at 2560x1600px
that is a possibility, but it would take a little more time if i made it myself,
i was also considering making the luminosity image mask a little more complex / intricate
the only thing that bothers me about this render is that the stars are missing on the left side (I'm using DandelO's procedural Star field) I don't know why, since the last time i rendered this they were there.
Crazy Image... extremely atmospheric and moody, no candles though ;D The sunlight on the clouds is gorgeous.
Cheers, Simon.

you should know that, I am crazy.
Out of the ordinary, but I love the lighting on the clouds. Looks like it was a lot of work.

it sure was! but it was totally worth the time.
it took me a while to get the clouds to look the way I wanted them to look, I ended up using a clip file of the clouds from my barren alien world render. :)
the luminosity mask (4096x4096px) is actually a design i made in lightwave 3d and rendered as a alpha channel.
lol the planet is too close ..it scares me ...
:(

there is nothing to worry about, everything will be fine.
i have it all under control, just as long as no one misuses the tgd.
:D
version 4 [darker version](GI lighting mode)

i am having ideas for a sequel for this project. M.I.E. II
of course i wont be starting until i finish this NWDA contest.
different planet, different objects, but just as massive as the first one
i dont think i will be able to bring back the tortured hand.
