recently i found some old pictures of death valley on my pc...and the dried salt structure of Badwater inspired me to build this...but at first the picture was as dead and empty as Death Valley is when there are no tourists :D so i downloaded a car model from "gfx-3d-model.blogspot.com" for free...
quite a bit of postwork done in PS as well
hope you like it :)
PS: thanks alot to FrankB for his Advanced Cracks...i used them for the salt
Hi

Naoo
How cool! I love this.
Thanks for the link to the 3D site, I'll have a play with that Lexus, too :)

nice pov...nice cloud...
This is cool, I like hoe the DOF blur really emphasizes the the forground.
Nice work, the salt caked in the tire tread is a nice touch.
nice render...
is it me or are your cracks displaced upwards?
if the crack function remained unchanged then the tiles are displaced downwards slightly. So it appears as if he cracks are displaced upwards, perhaps.
the "cracks" ARE displaced upwards...but this is what the salt looks like there :P just look at some photos (for example: http://www.mountaininterval.org/photos/american_west/highlights/pages/b19-roll/12-death-valley-badwater-salt-flats.html )
Great image. And great ".obj" resource there, played with a couple and all textures work very nicely! I have a Citroën C4 in the oven right now. Will share when done. - Bill .
EDIT. Here is my first play thing from that site. http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=7314.0
