Title: Network render
Post by: DanielHruby on August 23, 2009, 11:45:09 PM
Is there anyway TG2 to use my 8 core MacPro and my Powermac Quad to work on a single frame together?

There is no automated way to do this. The only option would be to split it up manually using multiple Crop Regions and then stitch it together in an image editor afterward. If you are using Global Illumination (GI, which is on by default), you may run into issues with the lighting for each crop render not matching. You could use overlapping crop regions and higher settings for GI Blur Radius to compensate. But overall it's not usually worth any of this hassle unless the image is very large and/or takes a long time to render. It's much easier to split up animations since you can just set each machine to render a batch of frames.

The other potential issue is that the images could look slightly different on Intel and PPC machines. I've done this before but keep forgetting what the results were! I will try it again in the next few days.
