I've got a scene with two heightfields set to autogenerate. I've noticed now in two separate cases - one when adding a clipfile, another when duplicating an object, that the heightfields will then recalculate, and as the second one finishes, TG2 crashes. The workaround I have to use is to uncheck the autogenerate button before making changes - but I thought you should know about it.
I have noticed this also. I leave auto generate unchecked. For me it occurs when I have added objects. The calculation for them coincides with the heightfeild generate calculations, and a crash occurs.
