Title: hunger
Post by: pfrancke on August 27, 2009, 08:14:38 PM
What do we feed him, he's at Q .5, 3, 2, 2, 8 with ssprepass and GI checked.  Soft shadows was not checked.   Render time of 33 minutes.  Also, how can I improve this? - I'm off to a nice start, but you never can tell where you end up.  I wonder where the diag line came from...

Thanks,
Piet

Feed him?  Looks like the remains of a good night out with Hannibal Lecter!   LOL  :D ;D ::)

Is this a Xenodream monster?

Add something so there is a reference of up and down. It looks like one of my Incendia fractals, which sort of hang in space.

Great to see you back around, Piet! That's a really cool render. As others suggested, I would love to see a higher-quality version of this. As for the lines, you might want to either a) check to see if they're from the terrain or b) from the cloud acceleration cache. One thing that bugs me aside from that is how thin the clouds feel - the object dips into the clouds very quickly, with very little fading. I might increase the clouds' thickness and double-check that they're 3D, not 2.5D.

Yes!  Another ratty xenodream monster.  His name is Quattorus.  (Not to be confused with an old man exercise club called SquatsAreUs.

A little better quality and larger.  Now at Q .6, 14,2,2,8 - and larger - posted on Ashundar http://www.terragen.org/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-6033

Made the poison cloud thicker and less dense - I'm thinking my last straight lines are probably shadows - rays - but I won't swear to that.  Also, njeneb, I took your advise and added a tower and ground and more clouds.  The scale of the object is immense.  Any other ideas much appreciated - I like the fractal tool create an object for you concept, you get very interesting stuff and don't have to lift a finger to get it.  I think I'm going to get a little braver with it and see what happens if I make some small adjustments to the shape.

I prefer this version over the one you posted on Ashundar/Terragen.org I am definitely going to have to install and try out XenoDream.
  ;) ;D

Wetbanana, If I had your PS skills, I'd give it a go.  But I could try to get it to chew on the ZAAI999 Avatar!!!  ;D ;D

Mr. LP, I like the 2nd Quattorus texture better, but other than the clouds being messed up, I think the mystery of being in the clouds is better than the contrast to the white tower.  The white tower doesn't work.  But it is kind of cool to be able to easily create 3d fractals.  The software Mohawk is fooling with looks interesting also.
