I have composed an ocean scene with a ship.
But the problem is I downloaded the free ship model as *.obj file
As I load it any texture is not there or the ship is completely black.
This was not the case with *.tgo files.

Can any one tell me how to load obj file with texture. Is there some obj file with texture and some without texture ?
Or can anyone direct me to a similar ship model in *.tgo file. Cant find any...
Thanks in advance :)
was there and associated mtl file? are the textures in the right place?
Welcome to the forum softhunterdevil :)
Obj's "should" come with a .mat file associated with them. Check that you've got both files in your download and that they're in the same directory. There are issues with obj's, its not really a standard format so depending where it was initially created the file may have differing qualities. One of the best solutions for getting obj's into Terragen properly is PoseRay (http://mysite.verizon.net/sfg0000/). Do a search on the forum for Poseray, there's a variety of tutorials covering different uses and situations. You may even have to load your model in to a modeling app and re-texture :)
Good luck

Click on the Objects Tab in Terragen 2. Click on the Shaders Tab in the objects control/input. There should be a parts shader with a box to the right. This will bring up a new window. It should have an input with three icons to the right. Click on the one which looks like an upside down triangle; the node button.
In the node network window, below the preview, a list of the various Material/Shaders should appear. The red ones with the input connectors control color, images, and other aspects of each Material/Shader.
If I do not know where/what something is, I give it an obnoxious color, and do a small quick render. Now you are ready to color, and texture, add images as you need.
Looks like a really interesting render! I look forward to seeing the final image. 8)
I'll be posting a tutorial on using Blender objects in Terragen 2. The Blender part is done.

The next part will cover the Terragen 2 aspect.

Thanks for the welcome note and for sharing the knowledge.
As far as I know the model was not accompanied by any other file.
Another thing ... is Poseray free ? and how to convert obj file to tgo file ? in Poseray ? In the mean time I am searching for tutorials.
BTW, I think this forum need little arrangement. One
tutorial section (by experts) and one
help section (for novices) . Otherwise in terragen 2 discussion all topics are dissolved.
Yes PoseRay is free, follow the link on my post.
You do have a good point about the organisation but generally the "good stuff" gets moved over to the Terragen wiki (http://www.planetside.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) and User Contributed Tutorials (http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?board=6.0)
:)
