Its a place called lake tekapo In New Zealand I live about an hour away from here it was taken about a month ago when me an my girlfriend went ice skating I go snow boarding round here as well:)
You can see the southern lights here at night but my cameras to shit to take any decent photos of them lol

I hate to say anything, but there is nothing in the night sky that would look like that. Is there? If so, what happened to the Milky Way?
You simply cannot see a galaxy like that with the unaided eye and further more to see that kind of structure you'd need a world class telescope. A vary nice image though. ;D

Its not supposed to be realistic lol! maybe not as bold as this but steller outcasts (stars not in a galaxy or in an ancient galaxy that has used all its materials up) could produce this sort of image if a nearby galaxy was close, though it would be a rare sight, but hey our universe is infinite so an infinite number of posiblities^^
In fact thats givin me an idea for a new image!

He means the source image was a real photo.
