Hetzen's Sand Dunes + TU's sand pack + Walli's Dry Bush No.7 + light postwork in PS =
Another version - postwork this time in Lightzone
oh, that's a nice one, Dominic
Second version preferred :)
I 2nd that 2nd. It's stark and beautiful.
Now this is inspirational ...thanks for some ideas.
Thanks for the comments - next up is adding a cloud with a distance shader, but this may be rather tricky - I expect there'll be a lot of re-seeding.
And I'm honoured to inspire you choronr, as I regard you as one of the masters of arid scenes.
Nice... such a simple image, yet so powerful.
Cheers, Simon.
i like the sand lines in the background on the second render.
I finally managed to put a cloud in - which do you prefer, with or without?
I like the clouds...
I think the cloud adds balance and more interest. I like clouds also.
really nice idea....the clouds and the distant sand ripples look absolutly amazing :)
yet i have some issues with the forground...the sand looks quite strange to me...i would make it a lot smoother by removing the small displacements...the other point is that the shadow-color of the bush sort of confuses the real object...and the shadow also looks a bit "flat" (dont really know how to describe it)
still...great work :)
Thanks everyone for your comments. I think I prefer this version too.
Dan, your comments about the sand ripples may be because, as far as I can see, this kind of pattern of big ripples AND small ripples doesn't really occur in nature. I may do one later that is a bit truer to life.
I have seen regular patterns resulting from water flows over sand, and wind over snow. Wind may do the same with sand.
It's still worth trying to change the sand just to see what can be done.
with the cloud is best...perfect!
That first one looks alien.... *We come to destroy your planet...* ;D
