Title: Glass sphere Light do not converge
Post by: lifeh2o on September 26, 2009, 08:42:56 AM
Hi!

I have made a sphere, than applied water shader on it and set transparency to 1, and wave settings to 0.
I was expecting that when sunlight pass through this sphere glass, it will focus to a point, but there i see just  a shadow like any other opaque object.

What to do?

As far as I know TG2 won't do this - you're looking for caustics.

You would have to fake the effect. Render without the sphere with a wider camera angle. Now add the sphere with a spherical image map of the render without the sphere. I don't know what specular settings to use, but I think they would need to be quite high. It would probably work better to use a 3D program which handles caustics and transparency.

TG2 does not currently support rendering of caustics.
