a new render featuring dandelO's "Ugly" dead tree. :)
(the lightsource has a reddish tint to it)

I looks like it fits well in its setting. I would add a fill light without shadows. This would be just enough light to bring out the specular highlights of the objects.
Looks promising. You'd need some extra light, as njeneb says. How did you get the stars in?

by using DandelO's Procedural Night Sky clip:

what do you guys think about replacing the dead tree with one of the tortured hand plant tgo's?
As I was clicking the link to your image, I was thinking..."it's gonna be dark, it's gonna be dark..." And by heck it's dark. ;D
I agree a tad more light or an extra subtle one.
Cheers, Simon.

hehehe... :D i was waiting for you to say something like that.
the next render should look better. (and bigger)
Reminds me of "Where the Wild Things Are". Nighttime renders are a challenge. Are you using the Background object to light anything?

now that you said that, I could imagine that perfectly.
If you mean DandelO's Procedural star shader, yes I am using that.
btw: the power went out at my house yesterday aborting the render, so I started re-rendering it last night, should be done by the time i get home today....
calico gave me the idea for the title-
