Title: Voronoi
Post by: Mohawk20 on October 11, 2009, 07:18:35 AM
OK, Stupid question!
I've not used the voronoi finction for a very long time.
Last time I used a combo of different function nodes, as suggested by some that understand those...

Now I need to make a road, and wanted to use the voronoi cells for the flat stone texture.
I found 'Voronoi 3D' function nodes. But I can't figure out how to attach it properly.
I plugged it into a powerfractal, but doesn't do anything as long as it doesn't have scale and seed inputs.
So I added a powerfractal as seed, and a constant scalar as scale. It needed some input to show any output so added another powerfractal for that.

I don't get the nice cell shapes. What did I do wrong?

Off the top of me head I think you need to add a "Get Position" as the input rather than a PF, use a low octave PF in the scale or seed to give some variation. Hope this helps :)

Thanks, that did it!
And I needed the Diff Scalar, in stead of the Cell Scalar...

Again I think (no TG on this shite laptop) that if you use both a diff and a cell shader (merge them I guess) you can have the outline and the centre of the rock/stone/path texture ... .. .

This is old but I posted a clip in this thread that imports all the voronoi variations.
