Title: Spires
Post by: pfrancke on October 17, 2009, 01:38:51 AM
The monkey snuck into the piano room and stumbled on the keys as he looked at the spire music written by efflux and volker.  Sometimes the monkey makes lucky sounds.

My monkeys type, so far children's short stories. :(

This is an interesting image. It does look very cool, but i have no idea what it could be. Maybe a coral?

Almost like those volcanic tubes at the bottom of the ocean... put some crazy white crabs on it and make hot plumes flow out of it... Now there's a challenge.

No, No, samples are not allowed of the monkey - he would run and scream.  The cup like depressions are a most excellent place to store the marbles.  In an effort to get "negative" displacements, into the spires - (as I have been very negative as of late (that means "sorry" to the avatar flashers(gosh, flashing -- what was the word when someone ran naked through the campus))) -- the displacements are out of control when I tried to replace a blue constant scaler with a voronoi 3d cell scaler.  now working on different pov and if I can keep the displacements in their tiny little cages, then I can apply a little shiny stuff, but when I like move the camera too fast, it crashes crashes crashes sob, sniffle, crashes, somebuddy please kick me in the head so that I stop typing.

Littlecannon might be on to something though it does look like one of those deep ocean vents.

Very nice render, Pfrancke. The displacements are really well done and seem to be kept well under control.
A couple of wee glitchy bits are apparent at the lower end of the image but this can't be helped, I think.

Very nice use of the forum's wealth of information, great! :)

tgd for zaai999 (who's Avatar no longer disturbs).  Please note, that the tgd is truly shameful - just the witless and aimless steps of a disturbed monkey that got out of his cage.  When you look at it, remember to take into account that the differences that make a difference are unknown to me.

A nice place to walk the dog...  too much green, too much something, I'll work the colors and if I get brave and think I can survive reflective crashing, I think I should make this a pool of water.

I'm trying water, hope it doesn't crash with all the reflecting going on..  Getting colors better too.  More grey, less green.

I'm liking the latest cut best.  I'm including the tgd, it is based on Efflux/Volker's spire thread.  I added Glen's fractalized voronoi.  The tgd is a mess.  While it works, kind of, a strong hand would be appreciated to take a look at it and repair stupidity and monkey messes.  Such an effort would be taken by me with humility and appreciation and would result in great learning for me.  I wish I worked more from understanding than from pitiful plug and play.
