Title: Gentle breeze
Post by: ra on October 17, 2009, 07:30:07 AM
Hi,

this was my render for the german TerraGen contest (www.terragen-masters.de).

Windmill by Terradreamer and strange plants by Ashundar, Ferns (that can not be seen) by Klas! Thanks!

I agree that the surfacing is nice - somehow the distribution of the plants looks a bit too regular, and personally, I don't think the windmill is necessary.

I like the surfacing also, but the plants don't look right. I think the windmill is in the wrong spot. Try using a distribution shader for the plants. This would aloow them to 'clump' so they looked more natural. I would place the windmill on the plain near the water. (Which would pretty much hide it)

for me the windmill and trees fight against the other sense of scale where everything looks far away.  I'd go for the far-away scene look.  I love that pile of rocks in there too!!

Much better in my opinion! The trees do look a bit noisy though, what quality setting do you have the pine models on? It could just be the model though, the xfog free plants aren't usually of top quality. I really like the feel to this one, the forest s much more fitting than the open landscape was.

nice improvements.
I would change the format to a 16/9 or 16/10 though as i find the blue sky useless but, as i always say, it is just a matter of personnal taste....

Woops...what a change! :)

Just a thought : A path to the windmill?

Kadri.

I like this much better. I still think the windmill is in the wrong place. But artistically it works nicely where it is.

I have been looking at this a few more times. I think the windmill works where it is. It is certainly a beautiful place.
