Title: My first one: mountain and a lake
Post by: antti on October 17, 2009, 10:25:30 AM
   Hi!

I just bought Terragen2 (+XFrog) and here is my first render - well, actually three variations of the same scene:

I just started with the NWDA Default Project, edited a couple of settings, added a lake and a couple of shaders and a plant or two from the XFrog collection and ended up with this. I know it is very simple and could be improved in thousands of ways but I kind of like it - as a start. I will return with more material whenever my wife, daughter and work will let me have some quality time with my PC but I thought that this might be the best way to introduce myself to the forums before I start making all kinds of questions.

These are a very good start. Welcome to the forum! There is a lot of information here. Most of the regulars are quite helpful. We will answer your questions or post links to the answers. Once in a while we give the wrong answer, but this program has huge potential and a high learning curve. That said, from these images, you'll be doing very well in no time.

Yes!  That is the challenge.  Finding the right balance of life and Terragen.   ;)
Welcome to the forum.  Nice start - now the fun begins.

I find Fall/Winter to be the season of choice for renders.  More time stuck in the house!

Bill...
Surely the only ballance in life is 100% TG2?  ;D

antti, welcome to the forums. Have fun, ask questions (no matter how stupid they seem to you. I'll put money on the fact that someone has already asked something far dafter (probably me  :D )) and above all, experiment. By the way, I like the 4th render best, the tree seems to "fit" with the rest of the scene better.
