Title: tg2 object populations
Post by: Thejazzshadow on October 22, 2009, 02:11:36 PM
Is there a program that will open tg2 objects (prefer free but would like all possibilities). I want to be able to import an object, say a grass clump, numerous times and then save it so I will have a larger area of grass so I won't have to populate billions of grass clumps when I capture a wide high shot.

There are two types of "TG2 objects" - the built-in *procedural* objects, like the grass clump, and the proprietary TGO geometry format. Neither one can be exported to other formats at this time.

The population function is actually a significant memory saver. If you were to have a single object with the number of polygons in even a few hundred grass clumps, it would be millions of polygons and very memory-intensive. So even though it may take some time to populate thousands or millions of grass instances, it's generally worth it as it would be difficult or impossible to achieve the same results otherwise.
