Title: plugins don't work for me
Post by: ascheitlin on October 23, 2009, 06:46:48 PM
I'm a newbie and have tried to get some plugins.
It hasn't worked.  It keeps on asking for something, sorry I didn't write it down and the bombs so I had to erase the plugin.
TGPGuiLib didn't work either.
I'm using Terrage 2 Deep on a 64-bit PC under Vista

Not familiar with TGPGuiLib, but the website seems to indicate it hasn't been updated after 2003 -- that's a long time in software years!  I would be surprised if it did work.

Hi,

Plugins for Terragen Classic ( aka Terragen v0.9 ) do not work with Terragen 2.

Regards,

Jo

Aha!

So are there any plugins for T2?

In particular how could I import Dem files?

I don't know if this thread will help, but here it is.

I have not tried it. Terragen 0.9xx will load DEM files I believe. They can be saved as ter files and imported using heightfield load. But since I have not done this, it is a guess.

There are no plugins yet for TG2, but TG2 does support the GeoTIFF format natively. TG Classic does not natively support any DEM formats, and the only format supported by plugins are older and now less available.

You can also use 3rd party software like Leveller, Global Mapper, or Wilbur (free) to load DEM formats and export to Terragen's native TER format.

You can get free GeoTIFF format DEMs from http://seamless.usgs.gov/
