Title: Storm on the way.
Post by: MGebhart on October 31, 2009, 09:13:12 PM
I thought I would create a simple scene and render it at a high res to see how long it takes on my box.

6 min to setup the scene
2 tree populations
1440X900
9559089 micro Tris
Time to Render:21:23:03

The link is to the large image.

Good start. Try increasing the cloud edges sample and the quality. Not too much with the cloud samples. Storm clouds seem to be a little 'loose'.

I like the terrain and how you got the extra dark and gloomy area - just like you see when a storm is ahead.  The image is already really good - I hope you keep working on this one to see what you can make out of it.  The image deserves it!

This is an update deploying the suggestions from njeneb. Thank you sir.

I also changed the light direction and azimuth.

Thank you pfrancke for your kind words,

Marc

That's the ticket.  Looks great. ;)

Looks really nice... My one suggestion is to make the trees smaller and more tightly spaced. It would give it a much grander scale.
Cheers,
Simon.

Simon,

Good observation. I'll get on it ASAP.

Thank you,

Marc
