Title: How to Use the Value of a HeightField as a Color or a Alpha
Post by: luckypierre on November 09, 2009, 12:37:28 PM
I want to know how can I take de black and white value of the heightfield shader that i see in the texture view, and use it as a color or a alpha.

There are some options to do this in the Heightfield Shader, under its Colour tab. Enable Apply colour and shade and Shade by height. This gives you a greyscale value between black and white that can be used as a blend shader or a function input just like any other colour shader.

Uh...that would be under Load Heightfield not Generate Heightfield which has no colour tab...just to be clear. Query...how does one use this info to control distribution of colours/imagemaps?.. ..

Feed it into Fractal Breakup or Blend Shader inputs, just like any other breakup/blend shader.
