bad quality. sorry for that.
testing animation with objects (and mostly lighting and camera movements).

Stunning work!
super seth!
Nice work Seth.
Simon.
wow, this looks really realistic. Good Work.. :)
I downloaded it so I can loop it. Great looking forest. Was the camera keyframed using Terragen 2?
Francke! That looks really great, really organic. Well done!
(And there's nothing wrong with the quality on my end).
yes, the camera was keyframed with TG2.
hehe dandelO, there is some compression artifacts though...
That is really nice work there Seth. The dappled light really works with your camera movement.
Do you have a better resolution version we could see. I'd very much like to see how the new camera works with noise. I've been having a few issues with veg models recently and am hopping this new camera will sort a few of them out.
Cheers
Jon

I don't have any new camera.
as for the better resolution version, no I have not.
uploading it to vimeo just add some compression artifact too and as it is a bit more than 285 Mo, i don't know where i can put it freely ^^
I don't know if terragen.org accepts 4-5 mb (the youtube version seams like 1.4 mb) files
but if you can make one (x.264 or xvid) on yourself instead of youtube it would be much better.
But this is really a very good render.
Thanks for sharing Seth.
Kadri.

My appologies. I thought Frank was playing around with one a few months back, and had assumed you were also testing it. Still, some mighty fine work there.
Jon
are you talking about alpha TG2 ? because if you are, yes it is , but it is not a new camera.
Sometimes I feel like my T2 work is rendered by a pinhole camera ::)
It really comes down to taking more time on set up.
setting up tgd might take a very long time ^^
and in case somebody is interested, the render time for this was 250 hours :)
What kind of pc are you using Seth?
Kadri.
I am using a QuadCore 2.66GHz Q9400 4Go Ram
good computer bought exclusively for TG2.
I am still paying it to be honest ^^
O well ! I was hoping that your configuration were low . Don't get it wrong , not the kind as a bad wish ;)
My pc is the same. Maybe it is not good as a i7 but not bad.
In this case my feeling are the same as Matrix2003...Ouch !
Thanks Seth.
Maybe you are not interested but i would like to see a more HD animation of this...really :D
Kadri.
yes i understand Kadri.
I would do better quality if i would be able to work on TG2 at the same time. but with only 1 computer, rendering an animation means watching it rendering and not doing any new render and that is simply impossible ^^
with some more cash in my bank account, i'll try a renderfarm but right now... well... maybe later ;)
by the way, with a good i7, the render time would have been something around 140 hours
Very nice Seth,
Sorry to hear about the rendering, you really deserve access to a renderfarm.
Hope that doesn't discourage you though.
Chris
discourage ? nope !
I am a big fan of TG2... and rendertime is part of it ;)
Yes some of the best TG2 guys here are the most patient ones too.
I don't thing that i can wait so much time :D
Kadri.
Nice work Seth! I think we might need an own section to animations on this forum.. Atleast that would make them easier to find.. Btw how hard did you find animating the camera or did you do it on an outside app? I'm thinking of upgrading to animation module but I dont know how much I'd benefit from it..
Excellent work!
right now the keyframing is quite basic but very easy to use.
unfortunately, it needs some more tools like curves editing, but to be honest, you can do very good camera movements with some work and the animation module permit to move pretty much everything from the sun to the PF you use, the colours, the objects size, etc...
honestly, i hesitate a long time to buy the anim module (because of the render time problem) but I don't regret it. it is really something to be able to "travel" in your landscape ^^
Sounds cool. I have several machines that are currently just consuming space so rendering power wont be a problem. The missing curve editor is a bummer tho..
indeed...
Great animation Seth. I can help you work out hosting for the full-size version if you want. :)
The addition of a curve editor is part of plans for the final animation module.

This is really cool! Though 250 hours of rendering is a pretty heavy price to pay.
Beauty Seth, need to animate a butterfly in there.
Franck, I don't think you would notice a drop in quality if your render detail setting was down to 0.7, or even 0.65. But your rendertime would be close to half - I assume.
In a still, yes you would notice, but not in that animation with motion blur.
Cheers,
Frank

Frank you know TG2 better then me but in animation noise/flickering are really a problem.
If this are a problem with other quality settings (atmosphere , cloud and such) you may be right.
By the way how much do the render detail setting influence the noise ratio?
Kadri.

bad quality. sorry for that.

nice, do you render a very low quality small image size before you render the final one, or do you render a test using full spec..
I would definitely reduce render detail if it's at 1. 0.65 would probably be fine, especially with the new rendering method. Then increase AA, that would help the flicker and noise most. With the new rendering method it's actually AA that affects noise on objects most.
- Oshyan
i disagree. the detail is 0.85 and i can assure you that 0.65 looks worst ^^
0.75 is the lowest detail possible in this one if you don't want to get a very "blurry" animation.
but the AA 6 seems a bit low...
anyway, without several computers in my sleeve, no way I can redo this one :p
Some people might be willing to help. ;) I'd be interested to see if I could tune it for better render time, too. Only if you want to though. I can understand you wanting to move on to other projects. :)
- Oshyan
no problem !
I kinda like the "forest serie" I did, and this is why I chose to animate one of these render ^^
I will send you a "finalized" tgd as soon as I can Oshyan but as this one was a kind of test, I must admit that i was planning to render it bigger and better quality...
anyway, i am very late for work (f*cking joooob) so I'll try to do something about that tonite if I can ^^
thanks all for your comments
No problem, take your time. It's great work. :)
- Oshyan
Looks photorealistic! :o
so real :o :o!!!!!!!!
250 hours lol! but it is nearly half a minute and all those objects
yep !
I, like everybody, dream of a faster TG2 but... well 250 for 21 seconds with so many objects... on a single computer... for me, it is not that bad
yeah and animations are one offs compared to single framed
and yeah one pc
