Title: Terragen Classic full version 9.0
Post by: imagine87 on November 19, 2009, 10:30:18 PM
Hi, I'm a newbie to the forum, and to Terragen. I have played with both free versions, Classic and Terragen 2. I recently purchased the licence for Classic. May consider Terragen 2 with X frogs and such, because I want to render landscapes with grass and trees. But my questions are for the Classic version. I'm not smart with programs such as these, though very amazing. Can anyone explain to me-(in simple english),..LOL, how to use the animation part of the prgoram, and explain to me what Java script is? So far, I have been rendering mountain ranges, arctic scenes with water, ocean scenes, lake scenes, etc. I have done a few snow scenes. My future goal, however, is to animate scenery. Thanks, maybe these are things I can find out on my own, just thought I'd inquire.

Try SOPack, CamPath, and TerraTweak. They'll make animation easier. Make sure to have a separate folder for each animation, as they'll be rendered as individual BMP's. Then compile the renders into an AVI with VirtualDub.
SOPack:

You'll need the TGPGUILib fro SOPack; you can get it here:

CamPath:

TerraTweak:

VirtualDub:

Also, JavaScript has nothing to do with Terragen. It's a programming language that people use to make applets (interactive web toys) for the Net. I'd like to see some of your work sometime.
TBH

Actually your semi confusing javascript with java.  Java is in applet form, requires users to have the JRE to run them and is programmed in java.  Javascript is a script based language nothing to do with Java, except by similar names.  Javascript is used to make websites more interactive without including applets/flash/silverlight, etc.

But yep those various links will help you start off.  I like terranim personally.

Hello fellow newbies and all.
I posted this here because I have similar questions to the above.
I want to buy Classic, but I can't find a comprehensive list of which features and buttons are disabled in the free version.
I come up against some feature that won't work and I don't know if it's me or a feature I'm not supposed to have 'til I pay up.

I played a lot with T2 and was crashing my Mac pro so much, I decided I would just get V.09. I do art for scientific reports and this will be perfect if I can get the thing to work as advertised. Will I get more things to work such as: combine terrain, distribution presets, special distribution of child layers, etc.

Is it me, my Mac, or just disabled features?

Thanks,

Russ

The greyed out features mentioned are features that where planned but never implemented, form my recollection I believe that the functionality differences between licensed/ unlicensed versions of Version 9.0x is that of image resolution and anti-aliasing options Ultra and Extra Blended Detail (Landscape Only) are only available in the licensed version. Bering in mind this is only a recollection as far as image resolution goes, since I got my license many years ago.

Regards to you.

The complete list of unlocked features for Terragen Classic licensed version are on the Buy page here:
http://www.planetside.co.uk/content/view/18/30/

QuoteRegistered users will also have access to priority email support, and will be able to render images larger than 1280 x 960, terrains larger than 513 x 513 and enhanced anti-aliasing modes.

Terragen Classic for Macintosh has a few extra benefits currently unavailable in the Windows version. Registered users have access to QuickTime VR panorama generation tools, the Snapshot system, which allows you to batch render a scene from differing viewpoints, and the ability to run helper AppleScripts from the Scripting menu, offering a simple way to expand Terragen's capabilities.
