I didn't want to hijack the snow topic, so here's a rain topic with a quick test. Based on our findings in the snow topic, but not entirely. Rain is more subtle, so (I think) I didn't even use the tiny cloud size here. I did use an image map shader to get the shower effect, but it can also be done by painted shader on the Y. The landscape would need refining, if I pursue this.

Very impressive. I think we just opened up atmospheric effects for Terragen. Future images won't be the same anymore. I'm really looking forward to exploring what's now possible. :-)
Cool, I'm sure Moodflow or Rarcher done this before, it was called 'rain curtain' or something similar to that. These are cool and inspirational experiments, though! Great! :)

There's the one I was talking about.
Ah, that's interesting Dandel0. Never seen that thread. Seems like they had more or less the same way to achieve this. I must scan the threads better, saves a lot of work. An addition I can provide is that if you use a camera and a mask, you can influence the angle of the rain showers. I was hoping to get some warp in the showers as if the wind is blowing the lower part to one side, but didn't succeed so far.

I have learned alot here, but I still stubbornly do my own nodes. Sometimes I stumble onto something a little different or learn something. I have always been one of those people who have to do something to learn how and why it needs to be done that way.
I always meant to get back to that scene to refine it but new things always came up. Your technique is looking like it works great though.
