Title: Next Update?
Post by: rcallicotte on December 04, 2009, 02:40:32 PM
Any indication when there will be another update and what might be inside it?  I'm waiting, well, uhhh, patiently.

I am looking forward to it also, if only for the better object renderer. But, I can wait until it is ready. Stable is good.

It would be nice to see some of the bugs fixed. I would rather that than new features.

I vote for wireframe object display in preview window.

That would be killer.  ::)

I've noticed that objects rendered in TG2 compared to Lightwave (the only other 3d app I know) seem to be less crisp, less defined in their detail. Images in models also seem to break up (less so at high detail) and theyy also seeem to break up in animations too. It would be great if this was addressed in some way.

Hi,

Just to head off any disappointment, wireframe object previewing is not in this release.

Jo

thats the one i want :) i dont need wireframes... would be nice for objects, but i can live without as final product still the same.  but better object rendering is very nice.  from what we've seen from the beta peoples images it looks very nice.

But at some point there need to be a better preview for objects cause it can take forever to just plant a simple tree at the right spot. Need to do a lot of test renderings and thats not fun.

Anyway... I look forward to the next update. Hope it's here soon ;)

Regards,
Terje

Also related to this, please, please give us a "sit on terrain" for objects.

Use the right mouse button to click on a location. Use Copy Coordinates, then paste this into the objects Translate area. (The box on the right of the coordinates) The objects location is dependent on the objects center. You may have to enter values for thr y axis to make it sit correctly on the terrain. I start with adding 1 to the y coordinate (easy to change it back).

It would also be nice to be able to tilt objects or put them along normals instead of only aligning on vertical axis. An option similar to what is offered right now on displacements would be really neat. It would help to avoid having "grass stairs" on sloppy surfaces and more realistic woods (with trees being actually tilted by some degree, instead of being 100% straight).
