Title: Feature request - Satellite rendering...
Post by: Njen on December 06, 2009, 12:02:15 PM
Devs: I was wondering if you would consider implementing a satellite rendering feature similar to what Mental Ray does.

What I mean is when Terragen is installed, it also begins a process that listens for requests to help out on a render from a "server". Then by setting up what computers/local IP's to speak to in the GUI on the server, when a render is begun, the server calls upon the processing power of each "client".

It's basically like having multiple cores across different computers. Separate licenses are not required for clients because the satellite uses a non GUI, non command line mode to render in.

It's an awesome feature in MR that I use constantly as I have a bunch of low powered PC's in a mini "farm", and satellite rendering puts them all to good use.

Thanks!

We are thinking about it. I think you might see this implemented some time next year.

Can't ask for more than that!

Thanks for listening.
