Title: Looking for a 3d Screensaver app
Post by: cyphyr on December 13, 2009, 01:39:20 PM
I'm after making a 3d Screen Saver (again) :)

I want to be able to make my models up in lightwave, give them some cyclic behavoirs, and drop them into a screen saver program so I can show my model rotating, moving and generally being fantastic.

Most 3d software uses OpenGL or ActiveX to display the models and so do most screen savers so I would have thought it would have been a relatively simple task (and one that dev's would have made an app for) but I cant find any software, links or tutorials. Most posts I've found say this is a "programming task ..." but surely someone would have seen the gap in the market and made an app ...

Suggestions on a postcard please

:)
Richard

ps I discovered this (http://www.flay.com/GetDetail.cfm?ID=344) but the link is dead, company no longer trading?

Richard , i don't know if this has any use for you . it is open source.
You can use 3ds files. I have not tried this software  :)

Now you've gone and done it Richard.... I made a 3D screensaver when our company did a management buyout and we changed our name, logo etc.... but for the life of me I can't think what I did it in  :( I'll try and remember. If I do I'll let you know.
