YAY!!
Thanks for the hardwork planetside! you guys are great.
Just in time for holiday break :)
Woohoo! Black triangles, no more! And assignable internal network nodes again! Excellent, thank you, my main gripes with 2.0 dealt with in one go. :)
EDIT: Wow, even better, shader array is great, as is the simple shape jobby, I'm going to have some fun now. Damn, I have to work in the morning! I'm on holiday after next Tuesday, though! ;)
Thankyou
:)
I have noticed the speed increase while playing with it this evening. 8) Also the object render improvement, the new cloud settings (I have to do more experimenting with these), and the new render settings (again I need to work with these). Thanks for all your hard work!
Oh crap, I can't get it until the next decade... :(
So many great improvements, it's hard to pick what I am most happy with, but here are my two:
Node names are cropped to their actual box in the network view. The network view doesn't look so messy when zoomed out!
Step optimisation for clouds - awesome.
Gosh! you have been busy. Best news for me is the extermination of the dreaded Black Triangles.
Cheers for good work!
Thanks!
This is a great release, congratulations! :)
Frank
Wow, I totally missed this so far!
QuoteDisplacements applied to these objects are not seen by the ray tracer, but the displacement information is interpreted as bump to affect shading.
Does this mean I could actually use an object's bump/normal map while rendering it, or would I still need to figure a way to "map" the bump map into the object geometry? I'm not entirely sure how the image map shader works.
What a long read that was ! You definitively have been busy . I am most interested in the new rendering way of objects.
But there are many small but important improvements too it seems . I have to wait unfortunately until January :)
Guys i would love to see some of your old images rendered with the new build.
And i hope that there isn't new bugs coming with this new one. But that would not be abnormal giving the nature of software making.
But i hope there aren't any of course :)
Thanks , Planetside .
Kadri.
It seems that christmas is a little bit earlier this year!!! ;D
Congratulations PS with this damn fine release ;D

Can't wait to see your next work then, has been a while! ;)
Whopee :) :) :)
I really will have to finish some pics now - no more excuses.
Mick
Wonderful! Changelog is sweet :-)
Hoorah!
Thanks PS!! you´re just in time for Holiday :-)
Very nice update. Glad to see you you managed to squash bug 143, no more black triangles ;D
thank you planetside! :)
good timing....
i can't wait to install it this afternoon ;)
Great update! After doing some very quick tests I think I can get about 20% render time savings. That's 2 hours off a 10 hour render. :D
Thank you very much :) :) :)
Wow. I can't wait to get home!

To answer my own question, I just tried this - it works perfect and even more easier than I expected. Excellent way to give additional detail for a mesh. I just plugged the normal map image to the
displacement image of the default shader and gave it a little bit of displacement multiplier to compensate for the size of the object.
You Planetside-guys are definitely the best of the best of the best of the best ;D
Thank you for the early present! Will be fun to play with over the Holidays!
Best wishes to all. - Bill .
Thanks for all your hard work in getting us this update!
Dear Planetside Staff:
Thanks a mil for the update- some awesome improvements- and I'm jazzed! My renders have definitely sped up!
I appreciate all your hard work.
Thanks again!
Linda
Thanks everyone, glad we could get you guys a nice little Christmas present. :)
- Oshyan
It certainly has been a wonderful present!
Well, in just a matter of several hours, my system will be down to change from 4 GB of RAM to 8 GB of Ram; and, will be updating my Vista Ultimate 32 bit OS to a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS - then, comes the download to Terragen 2.1 ...I don't think I'll get any sleep tonight.
Thank you Planetside for this gift!
Bob
Hope all goes well, Bob.
John
At least it will be worth the loss of sleep. ;D
I am rendering the same image, again, which caused me to go into RAM shock. It seems to be going well so far. I am running out of swap space though.
I think you'll be happier with the 8 GB system. 8)

All went well John except the printer and scanner don't work ...more work on this later. I'm doing a cropped render now to test some further work on an image. The system is pretty fast after the changes. I had set the window size higher than 100%; but, had to bring it back since I was losing part of the text in the upper left of the TG2 window. Aside from that, the future looks good.
