My computer recently died :( on me so I bought a band new one ;D. This is a huge upgrade for me compared to my old dell dimension 4600. 2.4 ghz and 1 gig of ram. Now I have this link (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+Pavilion+Desktop+with+AMD+Phenom%26%23153%3B+II+X4+Quad-Core+Processor/9549438.p?id=1218122580358&skuId=9549438) not an insane computer but the processor is quite nice. I've been away from the terragen scene for a while mostly because my old computer just wasn't up to populations or intense rendering but I hope to be able to dig a bit deeper than before. On one of my old files a crop render took over 2 hours to do, now I rendered the whole picture bigger in an hour :). Terragen is much more fun when it doesn't take so long for the 3-d preview to load. So is anything new going on around here?
Please help petition the Terragen people to make it GPU aware so to speed it up even more.
The newest version is a lot faster renderer.
Try the Speed test (see my sig :) )to get a true comparison of your new PC's speed. It looks a fast setup but I dont know much at all about athalons.

Did you set the default render quality to one instead of .5?
Just leave all the settings as it loads, and run the default render.

It took 18 minutes and 2 seconds.
