Title: Rendering Snow
Post by: Subcontrabass on February 17, 2007, 11:39:53 PM
Hi. I'm new to Terragen 2 and am wondering how to make snow. The Embossed Snow thread (http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=753.0 (http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=753.0)) caught my interest, but I don't know how to make snow in the first place. Any pointers?  ???

Oops. I think I put this on the wrong board. Sorry!  :-[

That's OK, an admin will move it if he feels like it :P.  You can make basic snow by creating a surface layer or power fractal, coloring it white, and applying it below the "Base Colors" node.  The embossed snow is essentially that except with some heavy modifications to give it its thick look.

Perhaps Planetside should develop a snow shader?  ;D

If the node interface allowed input and output tabs of nodes in a user created group to be extended (attached) to the borders of the group, the whole group
could be seen, handled as a shader.
