Post by: typerextreme on December 28, 2009, 09:52:08 PM
Just whipped this up real quick last night. Probably not quite done with it though.

The second version is better, but there is a lot of noise.

Thanks  :)  i'm rendering a version with increased atmo and cloud samples. see if that helps the grain.

Once you get the quality up the second render will be stunning. Nice model too. F-5's a sweet looking planes.

Thanks, found a free model somewhere. Got to hunt it down again to give credit lol.

Lol I don't know. maybe. Probably can't see it but I did plug in an unmodified alpine shader for the surface.  Can't really see it in the second version, but the first version shows it up nice and clearly.

Atmosphere samples and Cloud samples are both 64. Raytracing enabled to get shadows on planes correct.

On a side note, I hate this f*ing computer. It took a total of 15 hours 35 minutes to render this.

Its looking better but I think it still needs higher quality. If you'd like I could give it a go at higher settings if you'd like. shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Now its looking great!
I have typical render times of 40 hours +. But I found a AMD Phenom II system for about $900. This may be a good interm system until I can get something better.

The only problem I have with the long renders is that this computer is my only computer and I sometimes have to use it for school and such.

Hi,

Looking good. I use that same model for testing object rendering. The canopy is opaque. It isn't too hard to make it transparent though, I used a water shader connected to the glass part shader of the model.

Regards,

Jo

Guys , do you have a link for the object ?

Kadri.

I used the Wavefront OBJ and the image maps for terragen to read it.

One problem I had with this package though was I had to edit the object in Notepad++ to change the location of the mtllib.  TG2 wouldn't read the object's images otherwise.

If you'd like I can email the fixed object and all the maps to you.

I am lucky, my computer multitasks very well. I run Terragen 2 renders using one thread. This allows me do work on mew landscapes, play some games, and surf. (The new animated advertising sucks!)

Yeah I've been lucky so far, haven't needed to do that, but I go back to school Tuesday so i'll probably need to start rendering on one core.
