Title: Desolate Loner
Post by: CCC on January 23, 2010, 11:46:10 PM
This will be one of the very first times i used GI. I thought i would take the plunge even though i am running an older PC, however 7 hours is good. Rocks need work as they are a pain and the ground went smooth on me. Although the tree from ''j meyer'' looks great.  ;D

Lighting and atmo/sense of depth are fantastic - the scene is well-constructed - yeah, perhaps something can be done with those foreground stones :)

Working on it. I think i just had the scales of the fractals all the wrong size.    ::)

great start, nice composition. More variation in the colours would help.

Overall or for specific objects?

I guess variation in both would be nice, but you may want a monochrome picture. Certainly the rocks would look more realistic with colour variation.

On the large rock, there may be too much noise. I think about 1.2 is about as high as I would go. A couple Pf's for color only would help the smaller stones. There is a nice mood here.

Tried that but do you use it as a blend or something else because when i do it goes too dark or too light even when i make mid-range colors. Also i had the noise about 1 and even that was too high so it is less then that now.

What about the roughness and spike settings? Would they make a difference?
