Title: My version of "The Wilderness"
Post by: Mor on January 26, 2010, 04:10:28 PM
Hello everybody!

Found out wonderful world of Terragen 2 for about a week ago, when I decided to give a try for its version 2. It was quite a shock to find out that everything seemed to be just out of my comprehension and even getting camera moved to another position or get some simple terrain created seemed impossible. (I've used Terragen's past versions over five years ago). Luckily there is so many wonderful tutorials and things have started to open a bit, though most of features things are still somewhat vague for me. One thing is sure, however, this has totally hooked me and I have even been arranging nodes in my sleep and though what kind of shaders have been used in landscape while driving to work :)

Making of the wilderness was excellent tutorial and it taught and clarified a lot of things. Here's my first render:

Hi there and welcome!...great start, I love the water settings and the mist, also the clouds are nice too, maybe some variation in tree scale and species, and you could have a winner here...btw you are not alone, we all dream of node networks, and wonder how to recreate the real world inside terragen!!

Thanks a lot for your comments.
I made some changes for the scale and distribution of trees. As I'm currently using free version of TG, populations are limited to 3. So two versions of trees and some long grass in waterline. I'm quite happy with the image now :)

I've been testing a lot of things with this pic and also had to buy terragen to get rid off the restrictions :D
So here's my latest version with some more populations and also changed sfake stones to another order. Originally they were added from bigger to smaller, now vice versa.

Here's the same with some post work:
