I have had a really long week. 62+ hours at work. Anyway, I did a new render with better lighting of the desert scene I posted last week (? seems longer). And one featuring Marc Genhart's trees.
The desert scene uses the dry shrub pack from NWDA, I believe Walli made these. The 'Ideallic' render uses Marc's pines, sugar maples, and American birches. I also used Walli's grasses and two versions of astilbe available at NWDA (Walli again I think).
I hope everyone likes them.

The Ideallic render used an AA of 5. It was really just a test render. It looked good enough, so I decided to not pursue any more tweaks.
Now to get Ulco's objects finished. Blender is giving me headaches with only 16 materials to use. This is fine for Blender, but Ulco want's to use the objects in Terragen 2. The image mapping just does not work like in Blender. Even running them through PoseRay.
Excellent images. I love the variation in the colors of the hills in the desert scene. Nice mood and lighting in the forest scene. Both have great composition.
Interesting clouds in the first one. Both have a strong poetic mood
I love the first one, the foreground texturing is superb!
The fake stones in the foreground of the desert render are excellent. The only thing I'd change is to make the surfacing of the far hills a little rougher.

"Only 16 materials?" for over 600 poles, beams, walls, three areas to be image mapped on the roof. The images wrap fine in Blender, but I'm having a heck of a time getting them right in Terragen 2. I have to admit that I have not done hardly any image map work in T2.
Yeah, I'm just confused where the 16 shader limit is coming in. You're aware TG2 doesn't have that limit anymore, right?

It's Blender's limitation. I may be able to use multiple objects (which would be very useful). Then export these as a single WaveFront obj using Blender's exporter. When I told Ulco that making him some longhouses for his Stone Age Settlement, I had no idea how complicated it would be. Plus I feel terrible that I have not gotten much done for him.
Really, Blender has that limit? Odd (and coincidental). Well, I hope you can address it!

I was recently using an object that had 100+ shaders to sort through...I gave up in the end, it was hectic!
Hey Henry, don't feel so terrible about it. If it can't be done, so be it. Can't you group a lot of beams and give them one material? Or in roofed object variation leave out the materials for unimportant parts (such as the inside). The structure one worked quite well, as does the roofed one you sent me.
In the Roman fortress I made in XFrog, I made the pallisades and such as one object, and the buildings inside it as another. Same size, and I just put them on exactly the same spot and they work together. That might be an option... beams as one object, roof as the second, to be placed over eachother.

I like the desert scene very much, have you got a new PC, the quality is very good! :)
No, same old PC. The AA was set to 8 and the detail quality was 1. With so few objects, the render times are VERY fast.

Nice work on the fake stones. The desert scene is very nice and I bet it's warm there. Maybe it needs to be hit by Global Warming like Washington DC. Ha! There scene is missing heat cycles.
By the way, did I send you the higher resolution images for the Birch? Let me know.

The last birches you sent look great. They are in this post, 'Idealic'. Believe it or not, but that was rendered at 0.7 detail with an AA of 6.
