Title: ALMA observatory
Post by: mt_sabao on February 10, 2010, 05:13:26 AM
Hi,
Some might remember I had some problems while working on this last year.
Anyway here's one of the final animations.
http://www.eso.org/public/archives/videos/hd_broadcast_720p25/almaanimation2.mov

The animation is not done in terragen, Just rendered a big image, and camera mapped it onto the lowres geometry in cinema4D, where the antennas were added and also the animation. Thanks for watching.

Cheers
Luis.

Thanks. The  Disks are the radio telescopes. They will act as a single telescope by combining the radio-light from the 50+ antennas. very cool tech going on there.
More info here: http://www.eso.org/public/astronomy/teles-instr/alma.html

Unfortunately the models are not freeware, they're actually highly detailed engineering models so i cannot share them.
