These are special days - Schmuckscale thinks he can do a back-flip.  Good luck Schmuck!

Why yes, since I bought it from Daz - it is the default Millennium 2 dragon.  Which hopefully will help me learn the DazStudio 3 better (a great way to pose models and pump out obj formats into TG2).  The trouble with the Victoria Model is that you have to find clothes, or else you find yourself making naked babes and getting into trouble.  The dragon doesn't need clothes - he looks fine in his scales!!
Edit --- I could never create a model like that! -- End Edit

Schmuckscale roars "where are you Witch! It is said that the Noble One will protect you - Where Are You!"

Schmuck roars "I have to find the witch.  Only she knows how to blend DandelO dust and Seth Crack.  I'll crack her head with the Ogre Canon if she doesn't soon appear.  I'll just sit on Dies Nef until I smell her out.  My friend Duf the black lab has taught me to smell, though he says I still smell bad.  The clouds buzzzzz again between my ears.  But my head looks like the mighty black lab head does it not, let me hold it just so.  Where is the Witch!"

LOL. I really like this render. It reminds me of a Margaret Wiess and Tracy Hickman novel, Dragons of Autumn Twilight, a Dragonlance novel.

The middle one does an excellent job of demonstrating my post-processing skills - damaging.  DandelO, Thank you for those wonderful cracks by the way!!!!!

"Oh Schmuck, you are a good son - when you are asleep, to have your picture taken with your mother.  You must never know this, you get too angry".

Technique was all Klas as described in Ashunder "spotlight" article - http://www.terragen.org/index.php?topic=4840.msg39125

Nice one, but why do all witches wear pointy hats in images? None of the witches I know do.  ???

I would remove the witch and setting up the Millennium Dragon 2 for use of displacements (no Ray trace objects/Ray trace everything). And a  bit more specularity on the dragon.
/edit: Oh, and some smoke on the nostrils ;)

Thanks guys - Klas, am working on it!  Thank you very much for tips.

Schmuck used to smoke his nest until he was six.  His older sister Schmooky used to torment him by saying "Schmuck Schmoked his bed again".

Klas - "no ray trace object" and "ray trace everything" and everything got "spec"ed up a notch.  The smoke is a small circle image map that gets warped by a redirect.  It was driving me crazy for hours as the smoke would always disappear when I warped it.  I finally figured out that the displacements in the power fractals that fed the redirect were too high.  I think the smoke probably still needs to shift a little bit.  Any ideas/advise much appreciated - though I feel like a real slow learner!

This is more totally more different than what we normally see here ...I think you've started a new trend.

That's the best one yet, pfrancke. :)

If you made the dragon slightly smaller it'd take away some of the material stretching that is apparent on some areas of the texture. Like on the shoulders/leg where the dragon's scales are biggest. Their resolution seems a little stretched, slightly blurry. Are you using bump mapping on the dragon, as well? I'd raise that some, too.

Really cool render, though. Love it!

DandelO -- I will try these things.  Trying to scale it down is an interesting idea, I  will give that a go.  About the bump, so far when I shut down ray tracing, I lose my smoke, so I have to figure out where my thinking is kaput, but we will see Schmuck with some good displacements on him.

Although asked to create a forest clearing, the order of furry friends has complained again about Dragon Schmuckscales feeding frenzy. Apparently the dragon was spotted creating a DandelO forest fire in Mgebhart park and diving down and eating alive the fleeing flaming critters.

Schmuck says "like french fries".

Piet says "thank you DandelO and thank you Mgebhart!!"

Absolutely brilliant!

Your smoke looks great and the translucency on the outspread wings adds that bit extra.
Fantastic, one of my favourite renders of late, well done, man.

I mean, really well done! :o ;D

;D    -- thank you, but it was all you.  I did put points of light on the ground and a light for above.  For the ground lights, I had to make sure to try to put them into fire clouds (or else they just lit the trees white)

This is interesting.  When I shut off all ray tracing to get bump to work on the object, I lost my smoke.  The problem was that I had background disabled.  Apparently, unless ray tracing, atmosphere stuff doesn't show up unless something is behind it.  Now I just have to get a good displacement and off to rendering again!!!   And I'd love to figure out how to make flames go sideways,  might try just stretching on x, repositioning object to have it make sense and then he can blow flames out.

She looked and saw Jack with his Lantern and knife to the East,
so she ran thru the gate and within moments became Shmuck's Feast.

Nothing much of value here except that I turned off atmo and got a nice night sky and the gate I got at Daz for 1.99 and Marc's great winter trees are perfect against a dark sky.

Next image will show Shmuck with no ray tracing (to see his displacements) enjoying an after dinner smoke.

no ray tracing - so we see Shmuck's bumps.

So she runs through the gate and she knows it's over and she says "Dragon, you look like a chicken with teeth on his pecker!".  Well, sticks and stone may bounce off my bones, but name calling just made her taste better.  I wish I had a toothpick...
