Title: Another rendering question
Post by: Curly01 on February 18, 2010, 10:51:56 AM
Hi,

Do you guys support network bucket rendering?

I'm looking at Luxology Modo now, and they allow you to connect more then 32 cpu cores in a LAN network to distribute the rendering process. They use instancing (called replicators ) to keep RAM memory use low. Can we see that in Terragen. I'm an XSI user and would like to export the clouds as an HDRI (EXR) file. Can we do that?

Hi Curly,

TG2 does not natively support rendering over LAN.
However, these forums contain some posts on people who make scripts for rendermanagement but also distributed rendering.
I'd suggest you use the search function for digging this up, since I can't come up directly with precise info.

TG2 also has an instancing function, simply called populations.
Otherwise I'd have to place those hundreds of thousands of trees myself, oh no way :)

TG2 also supports EXR output. In the temp folder there's also an automatic mask output.

Cheers,
Martin

Sorry for the late response. T-U is correct, TG2 does not currently have native support for render management on multiple systems. However TG2 is supported by a number of 3rd party applications dedicated to this purpose. The ones we're aware of are listed on our Resources page (Render Managers):
