Title: Sun baked
Post by: Mor on February 24, 2010, 03:06:33 AM
There are so many possibilities that it has been difficult to decide what to do, so most of my time has been experimenting various things lately. Finally I got something done though. I was again playing with alpine fractals and decided to try what it would look covered by glen5700's fractalized voronoi and here's the result with some stones and power fractals added. It was quite interesting image to play with and taught me a lot how different things affect to each other.

Looks like lava flows. Nice work!

This looks very good to me , Mor   :)
I think just a little more work on the colors itself would make this look like real .

Nice rendering, I agree with a bit more work on the color.

I have been giving some thought on updating fractalized voronoi and bringing in some kind of color control.

The colors look real to me. However they could be more rich depending on what you want.

reminds me of mars minus the blue sky

Just add some really dense haze and turn the sky yellow. Then it would be a great image of Venus! ;D

Thanks for your comments! Tweaked the colors a bit:

It's an extremely 'nice' landscape, in the positive meaning of course. Great color scheme and displacement, good vantage point. But I do miss a 'subject'. Perhaps a bunch of remaining weathered bush, a dilapadated barn, or ruin, or a few pieces of rocket debris, or a strange sandpile, remains of a drying up pool. Something!

I have currently one more version with dried leafless bushes rendering. I tweaked the stones also a bit more.  :)

I like it, too. I also agree with Dune. Something, don't know what.

I still haven't had a peek at Glen's Fractalized Voronoi, I really must soon. I'm sure I won't understand it, though.

Here's the final version for now. Added some bushes and logs and tweaked their coloring a bit. Increased the stone height a bit too.

Bushes are 2 twiggy no leaf bushes by TerrAde from terragen.org.
Floating logs by Sonshine777 from terragen.org as well.

I like your experimentation here. You might consider using some power fractals here for some color variation in the rock surfaces and fake stones.

This is great, really breaks up the (beautiful) reds. It's kind of intriguing now, where do these logs come from? I like that.
