For a potential client I am constructing an organic looking castle-like labyrinth. Which is going to be one part of a huge complex of structures and natural habitat. This is the result so far of this part, just to test the structure and lighting. For fun I translated into B&W. Any comments are welcome, of course.
---Dune
And the second one...
I like the fortress. You are coming along quite well with modeling. I think the lighting is a little off in the color render. I would increase the sunlight strength so the shadows play harder across the structures surface. It may help the bump mapping.
i like the fortress too, looks like it came right out of oblivion.
the second render looks pretty creepy :o
Looking very nice so far Dune. Maybe a few more tree types in there? Possibly some dead ones just to add some variety. Just for fun I did a B&W (fake IR) conversion on the colour image you posted to see if I could get your whites and blacks to pop a bit more. (Channel Mixer - monochrome - Red 100% , Green 200%, Blue -200%, Constant -10%) Then added a bit of noise.
I mentioned the lack of tree variety to the potential client too. After all, it was just a test for the structure. If I get the commission this will be a major setup, with all kinds of interesting things. More bump would be good, perhaps, but I quite like the lighting as it is. I used the EXR to produce two layers (dark and light), then subtly wiped some areas off of one layer. To concentrate the light near the labyrinth.
Nice fake IR, Ryan. I'll try that as well. The noise is a bit too much though, IMO.
The 'fortress', by the way, is supposed to be a burial monument/chamber, growing as more people die.
looks and sounds very interesting!
very nice, I like the color version. Keeps us in the loop if you can :)
I like it. It looks like it could be in Oblivion.

Oh... that one is even creepier, spooky!
