BBC - Wonders Of The Solar System (http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00rf172/Wonders_of_the_Solar_System_Empire_of_the_Sun/)
I've really enjoyed the series, I know its a bit pop science but its been well presented and Prof Brian Cox (The guy used to be in D-Ream! lol) has plenty of enthusiasm for his subject.
The planetary Special effects are world class and I'm pretty sure some of its done in Terragen. I just love how they've animated the clouds on Jupiter, how on earth (err Jupiter) did they do that? Image sequences generated from a fluid dynamics program maybe? I'd love to know.
Dose anyone know who was responsible for this?
Cheers
Richard
I wish they would let people outside the UK watch.
It says:
Currently BBC iPlayer TV programmes are available to play in the UK only...
Hmm sorry about that :(
Seems BBC i-player stuff is for the uk market only, oh well ... .. .
Hopefully it will be on Discovery Channel soon or on some thing similar :)

Not much deep explanation...

Loving it so far, only one minor point, occasionally they have a starfield background in images...and Orion is reversed with the "sword" on the right rather than the left. Other than that, the images of moons and planets have been put together very well and I often look and think...how would I do that in Terragen?! :)

I may be able to watch on BBC America soon. My boss reminded of this last night during the shift change.
I too have been enjoying this series so far...didnt know he was in D:Ream!
What makes BBC so good????? Is the people in UK so critic??!?!? ;D
The most rude british should be an Einstein near the average people of some, let's say, less education-oriented countries...
Umm Huh ???

HUH?!?!? NOPE, just kidding.
I love BBC series and the way they turn information into a funny trip, and the way people in UK is somehow responsible for this quality control!!!
Its because the BBC is not funded by advertising and is (supposedly) independent so it can put its resources into a very high quality, very high production value programs.
Fortunately its not the people in the UK who are responsible for the quality control, as I said they,re (supposedly) independent so don't have to bow down to the lowest common denominator, political pressure or advertising concerns.
For example the David Atenbourough series, Life on Earth etc could not have been made in any other country, politics, religion, the need to fit around sporting events would simply preclude its possibility.

Yeahh, interesting point of view, haven't seen by this side of the coin. So people in UK are just as "normal" as they are in the rest of the world. ;D
While I agree that the BBC does some really great stuff, like this, Planet Earth, Blue Planet, etc. The government is always lurking about in the supposedly ('unique')publicly funded BBC, even in as subtle forms as their colour schemes. Since Labour have been in power all the links/program adverts/news sets/etc. have been based on the Labour Red scheme, people dancing on wheelchairs, hanging from big red ribbons, all that expensive link stuff that most people probably don't care to see their license fee pay towards.
I seem to remember, all through the 80's under a Conservative government, the theme/sets were always blue, a blue and gold spinning globe, blue news sets, all that.
That's just tiny subliminal stuff in the end, notice how the BBC can make the baddest of police chiefs, war atrocities, members of parliament etc, seem shiny-shiny and good for us, really, in the end.
Tickly-handshakes galore! :D
I have only seen parts of this Wonders of the Solar System, I must watch it. I am, after all, paying to, regardless of whether I watch or not. :D
@ dandel0 you're paranoid man, was there not a yellow scheme on beeb 2 not so long ago?....only kidding about the paranoia...nice observation...I intend to get my 142 odd quids worth for sure, helps with the paranoia!
