Title: Nvidia Driver Problems
Post by: jaf on March 29, 2010, 10:54:50 PM
Just a "heads up", I went to the Nvidia site yesterday to check on driver updates and there was a message stating the last release (196.75) caused the graphics card fan to operate improperly and recommended a new release (197.13)

Today, I went back to the site and the message was gone, but in doing a Internet search, I found this:

So, while TG2 doesn't really task the graphics card that much (as far as I know) it does cause your system temperature, especially CPU, to rise.  This would cause the graphics card temperature to rise.

Also, some of you may run software like 3D-Coat, which supports GPU (CUDA) processing.  This would also cause a temperature rise which the fans wouldn't react to properly (see link above.)

Many games would also tax the graphics card, so check to make sure you're now running 195.75.
